Noida, the Secretary said that the Handicraft sector in recent years has become an important earner of foreign exchange and is providing employment to over 7 million workforce directly or indirectly in the country. Mrs Menon pointed out that in the $250 billion global gifts and handicrafts market, Indias share is a meagre 2% and we have to evolve promotional strategies to enhance it to atleast 4% in the world market.

"Gandhi March On Skating on 2nd October, 2009, at 5 P.M from Gautam Budha Gate to Shahid Smarak at Sector-29, Noida was organised to celebrate the Gandhi Jayanti. About 30 School Children in attire of Mahatma carrying placards of Gandhijis Messages undertook the March under the command of Rajnikant Thakur ( President Gautam Budh Nagar District Skating Association). This was an effort to spread the Message of Ahinsa Satya Hai Aantakwaad Asatya Hai and to pay tribute to our Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhiji. Shri Vinneet Chaudhary expressed hius views on Gandhiwaad. Capt J P Shjarma flagged off the March. This Programme was organised by attachowk.com, Navratan-Lok Kalyan Sammittee and Vineet Chaudhary.

The Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam, a wholly owned subsidiary of the UPPCL, has applied for a holding a parallel licence for distributing power in Greater Noida and in this connection the UPPCL has filed a petition before the power regulator, the UP State Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPSERC). To take a decision on it, the power regulator held a public hearing on 01/09/09 in at Greater Noida, where all stakeholders, including consumers, were invited to attend.
