Dear All,
This letter has been drafted with lots of hope and faith and I wish that the letter results in the fulfilment of all the hopes attached to it. Our NGO, Hai Ummeed, is organising a very noble programme "Me an Indian.... ae watan tere liye" a city wide event which is a blood donation drive on the occasion of 65th Independence day of the nation. It has been found that every year many people lose their lives due to shortage of blood & the main reason behind this is the fact that even the prominent hospitals in the city are facing a crunch in the blood banks. The drive shall result in the betterment of these statistics.

Me an Indian (Concept):- Blood is the river of life that flows in our body. World statistics show that today, blood is the most sort-after body part in the world. Demand and supply are slowly drifting further and further apart. India’s daily estimated requirement of blood is roughly 40 million units of 250 cc blood packages. Of which only 500,000 units are available, it means there is shortage of 35 million units which is a great cause of concern. Blood donation gives, a proud feeling of touching someone’s life in such a beautiful way. Its an experience that no words can define. You have to donate blood yourself to find out. By keeping the blood line flowing, you will greatly contribute towards a healthier, happier society. Do remember, any one may require blood any time. Including ourselves and our dear ones. You also benefit in other ways by donating blood. It reduces the chances of ischemic heart diseases (beginning of heart problems) as frequent donations reduce the accumulated and unwanted iron load from the body.
Car Rally :--
We have also planned a huge Car rally on 7th August, 2011 to create awareness about this noble drive. Car rally will cover every sector of the city & forward the noble message of Blood – Donation among citizens.
Celebrity Support:--“Hai Ummeed” has roped in several celebrities from Bollywood, Sports & Social field to create hype among general public. Till now Bollywood actress Kunicka, Politician Anil Shastri, Cricketer Maninder Singh & Mohd. Kaif, International Golfer Rahul Bajaj (asian games siver medalist), I.P.S. Alankrita Singh etc. has joined this noble cause.

Sub: a city based socio-cultural award programme.
Hai Ummeed, a well known social organization, proudly presents “Pride of Noida” a musical socio-cultural award programme to celebrate the spirit of goodness.
Like past years this year also this programme would be as grand & excellent as our previous programmes & a tribute to all the citizens of Noida. Lets join hands together & once again organize an award show which enjoys great respect, affection & recognition among the Noida citizens.
Moral Object :-
The moral object of the program is to honour those individuals from various fields, who have done extra-ordinarily well in their respective fields, so that society can actually take inspiration from their work & lives. We are determined to pick the best of names from the society & showcase them & their unique contribution & talent to the society.
We believe in good work & to respect good work every year we organize this grand program. This step would certainly cement the position of good work in the society. Last year, we honoured 11 dignitaries like world famous cardiologist Padma Vibhushan Dr. Purushottam lal, business tycoon Sh. B.P. Agarwal, RWA’s, social activists, peoples movement, sportsmen, artists & freedom fighters. This year We have specially designed an award “Priyadarshini” for honouring the female role models of the society. We want people to accept this fact that women are not less than any male sub-ordinate & with this noble thought we have designed this special award.
Female Foeticide:-
Sex ratio in India is getting more & more disproportionate over the years. Unfortunately the educated & elite still seem to consider their male child a status symbol & there by partake in creating an imbalance in the male-female sex ratio.
Some of the worst gender ratio indicating gross violation of women’s rights is found in countries such as India & China. However Indian societies display some unique & particularly brutal versions, such as dowry deaths & sati. Female foeticide is an extreme manifestation of violence against women. In some parts of the country the sex ratio of girls & boys has dropped to less than 800:1000. One leading newspaper recently reported that young girls from Assam, Orissa & West Bengal are kidnapped & sold into marriage in neighboring prosper states.
According to Chinese estimates, by 2020 there are likely to be 40 million unmarried young men. A society with a preponderance of unmarried young men is prone to particular dangers, more women are likely to be exploited as sex workers, and increases in molestation & rape are obvious results. The sharp rise in sex crimes in society have been attributed to the unequal sex ratio.
According to UNICEF survey, there are only 5 states where no cases of foeticide have been reported, which are Sikkim, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Mezoram & J.K., its very shameful that other part of the country are somehow not very much interested in fighting battle against this evil but ‘Hai Ummeed’ is on a mission to fight it out & through this program, we are marching towards our goal and we need your valuable support to take on this battle against this big social evil.
Program:-
We know, we are working on a very serious & big issue, so we have planned Dance performances (Western, traditional & filmy) & song presentations to ease the seriousness of the issue & a special performance by wonder kid – Tejasvi (India’s got talent, fame).
One of the main feature of the program is a mass debate on different issues & for this year unique debate topic would be “The role of Poisonous Caste system in Indian politics” & we have also arranged some great speakers from different categories for the same. Last year we had dignitaries like Sh. Anil Shastri ( former minister, member – Congress working committee & son of Late PM Lal Bahadur Shastri ji, Sh. N.P. Singh (Deputy C.E.O. Noida), & Father John F. D’cunha as our honourable guests. Like previous years this year also the Venue will be “The Indira Gandhi auditorium” at sector 6, Noida & planned it to organize in first week of march.
